AWS CLOUD ENGINEER – TS/SCI

Job Overview
The purpose is to provide Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud system administration and help desk support for all HNCJ cloud hosting environments and associated applications. Furthermore, the ESC will provide support to HNCJ applications with evolving and transitioning of existing applications into new technology directions as well as assist efforts to satisfy associated cyber security requirements. This contract will provide capabilities to the operational community in support of deploying and maintaining daily updates to production, staging, testing, exercise, and training instances as directed by the PMO. The effort will additionally assist with Cybersecurity Risk Management Framework (RMF) technical tasks and Cyber Security Service Provider (CSSP) requirements.

HNCJ responds to ever-evolving warfighter needs by leveraging Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) processes and integrating DevSecOps (DSO) approaches through Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines. Associated activities include, but are not limited to, providing system administration and engineering support for rapid prototyping, development of software and systems, integration and transition of lab developed capabilities, testing and evaluation, program management administration, studies and analysis, pilots, demonstrations, emerging technology risk reduction, and development and assessment of operational systems for inclusion into its ecosystem.

Requirements:

  • ACTIVE TS/SCI CLEARANCE REQUIRED
  • CERTIFICATIONS: IAT II, AWS Advanced Networking Specialty, AWS Solutions Architect, AWS DevOps Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for any technological duties associated with cloud computing, including design, planning, management, maintenance and support.
  • Analysis, planning, developing requirements documents, building functional models, developing procedures, developing functional architectures, and other related management and technical duties.
  • Must provide subject matter expertise in using AWS technology, AWS security best practices, AWS storage options and their underlying consistency models, and AWS networking nuances and how they relate to the integration of AWS services.
  • Knowledge of advanced networking architectures and interconnectivity options [e.g., IP VPN, multiprotocol label switching (MPLS), virtual private LAN service (VPLS)].
  • Familiarity with the development of automation scripts and tools.
  • Design, implementation, and optimization of the following: Routing architectures (including static and dynamic); multi-region solutions for a global enterprise; highly available connectivity solutions (e.g., AWS Direct Connect, VPN).
  • Knowledge of CIDR and sub-netting (IPv4 and IPv6); IPv6 transition challenges; and generic solutions for network security features, including AWS WAF, intrusion detection systems (IDS), intrusion prevention systems (IPS), DDoS protection, and economic denial of service/sustainability (EDoS).
  • Deploy, and manage scalable, reliable, and secure cloud infrastructure on AWS and maintain cloud-native services and resources such as ECS (Fargate), S3, RDS, Lambda, and others.
  • Monitor system performance, ensure high availability, and perform regular backups and disaster recovery exercises.
  • Familiarization with version control and CI/CD tools.
  • Deploy, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure to support HNCJ applications.
  • Implement security measures and best practices to protect cloud-based systems and data. Automate cloud operations using tools like AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or Ansible.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Collaborate with development teams, to optimize application performance and scalability.

Preferred candidate will have proficiency in AWS tools such as: Kubernetes, EKS, Diode, Lambda etc. (not all inclusive) orchestrated/deployed in a cloud environment

Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in related field or 5 years of experience in this field.

  • Extensive experience with AWS services and infrastructure (EC2, S3, Lambda)
  • Strong knowledge of scripting languages such as Bash
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools
  • Deep understanding of cloud security principles and practices
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes

An AWS Cloud Engineer should have AWS certifications or training in at least one of the listed below. Three (3) years proven relevant experience may be substituted as applicable to each certification or training. AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification or training
