Project Summary
The U.S. Coast Guard Aviation Logistics Center (ALC) in Elizabeth City, NC, provides depot-level maintenance, engineering, and logistics support for approximately 200 aircraft across 28 aviation units nationwide. This contract delivers Scientific, Engineering, and Technical Services to ensure aircraft airworthiness and sustainment, focusing on corrosion management, materials testing, electrical and process engineering, laboratory analysis, and aviation system support. Skilled professionals in these fields collaborate to conduct failure analyses, enhance quality assurance, and implement process improvements that strengthen aircraft reliability and operational readiness, ensuring mission success.
Job Summary
The Corrosion Preventative Advocate (CPA) plays a vital role in developing and executing corrosion prevention strategies for aviation assets. The CPA will provide engineering support, conduct corrosion testing, and contribute to policy improvements for aircraft corrosion mitigation.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct corrosion mapping and provide reports on aircraft and aviation components.
- Develop and implement corrosion prevention programs, including coatings evaluation and testing.
- Perform on-site inspections of aircraft and support equipment to assess corrosion conditions.
- Support aviation maintenance personnel with technical information regarding corrosion control.
- Manage corrosion-related training programs, developing course materials and hands-on training sessions.
- Collaborate with industry partners, government agencies, and research institutions to advance corrosion prevention initiatives.
- Develop annual reports highlighting corrosion trends, hot spots, and effectiveness of mitigation efforts.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in aviation maintenance and corrosion-related work.
- Experience conducting corrosion testing, failure analysis, and coatings evaluations.
- Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License required.
- Certification in Electrocoat Coater Operation Training – Level 1 (Basic).
- Strong knowledge of aviation maintenance procedures, aircraft coating, and corrosion prevention techniques.
- Ability to work in diverse environments and travel for inspections and training.
