License/Certification(s): Certification in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or related quality methodologies.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Process Engineering. (ABET)

Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience in process engineering, aerospace manufacturing, or quality control

Project Summary

The U.S. Coast Guard Aviation Logistics Center (ALC) in Elizabeth City, NC, provides depot-level maintenance, engineering, and logistics support for approximately 200 aircraft across 28 aviation units nationwide. This contract delivers Scientific, Engineering, and Technical Services to ensure aircraft airworthiness and sustainment, focusing on corrosion management, materials testing, electrical and process engineering, laboratory analysis, and aviation system support. Skilled professionals in these fields collaborate to conduct failure analyses, enhance quality assurance, and implement process improvements that strengthen aircraft reliability and operational readiness, ensuring mission success.

Job Summary

Process Engineer will lead improvements in aviation manufacturing and maintenance processes, optimizing efficiency, reducing costs, and ensuring compliance with aerospace industry standards. This role requires expertise in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and process engineering methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine engineering process guides, maintenance cards, and specifications.
  • Improve manufacturing workflows, applying Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
  • Conduct root cause failure analysis for process-related issues.
  • Support airworthiness compliance by ensuring high-quality production standards.
  • Research and implement new manufacturing technologies to enhance efficiency.
  • Develop and execute statistical analysis and quality control initiatives.
  • Provide training and consultation to teams on process optimization.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Process Engineering.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in process engineering, aerospace manufacturing, or quality control.
  • Certification in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or related quality methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft manufacturing processes, tooling, and materials.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, process optimization, and quality control methodologies.
