Summary:

Required Experience: 

• Minimum of 3-5+ years of work experience in the public health sector as a Project Director/Manager;

• Minimum of 3-5+ years of work experience in the public health sector in the scientific field, including laboratory science, operations coordination and management, quality control/assurance, administration, business, finance, and evaluation, and domestic and international support;

Desired Experience:

 • Experience working at a public health agency and successfully interacting at various levels of the organization while effectively managing numerous contractor personnel who are collecting data and sharing metrics with stakeholders;

• Work experience in public health sector managing laboratory and scientific personnel with competing priorities among internal/external stakeholders and management;

• Experience in a public health sector dealing managing risks and issues, conflict resolution, and managing various levels of organization while effectively meeting timelines;

• Experience working in the public health sector providing financial and management oversight for a multiple array of labor categories of laboratory and scientific personnel who provide expertise on a variety of respiratory diseases.

• Experience working at a public health agency and successfully providing administrative and quality control/assurance support to numerous contractor personnel.

Responsibilities: 

1 Serve as a Project Director/Manager for the contract supporting the Program Manager, contract staff, CDC COR, and CDC Program Leadership.

a. Monitor project risks and issues for the contract;

b. Monitor conflict resolution for the contract;

c. Monitor timelines for the contract;

d. Monitor the overall schedule for the contract;

e. Monitor the overall budget of the contract;

f. Meet regularly with contract Project Manager and CDC COR as needed to ensure contract deliverables are being made;

g. Attend any regular meetings between the Project Manager and CDC COR as required or needed.

h. Serve as a day-to-day primary contract point of contact for contract staff, COR, and other CDC

Program Leadership;

i. Maintain inventory of contract staff and alignment of staff to CDC CORVD Teams;

j. Recruit new talent for vacated positions; review candidate resumes/CVs for credibility and call for reference checks before referring to CDC;

k. Assist CDC CORVD Teams in realigning existing contract staff when transition efforts require organizational and team changes;

l. Coordinate on- and off-boarding of contract staff with the CDC CORVD program;

m. Liaise between CDC Program Leadership and contract staff when concerns arise and need resolution;

n. Liaise with contractor management team to inform project progress, risks, issues, schedule, and budgeting;

o. Assist with coordinating travel for contract staff;

p. Provide a monthly report regarding administrative support for contract staff activities including the review of work products for correctness, adherence to best practices and user standards, and for progress in accordance with schedule;

q. Compile data and prepare a monthly statistical/narrative report on pending or proposed contract staff actions, staffing levels, staff-year usage, coverage and related activities;

r. Meet with the CDC COR and other technical monitor and other cognizant personnel, if required, on a weekly or biweekly basis (based on decisions made) to review requirements, discuss approaches, update progress and formulate plans for support including alternative approaches and solutions;

s. Provide consultation to CDC staff on a weekly or biweekly basis (based on decisions made) to help coordinate all aspects of contract related projects including organizing meetings, taking meeting notes, documenting decisions/discussion points, products and outputs;

t. Maintain deadlines, monitor and summarize progress of contract related projects and prepare a

quarterly summary report for the CDC COR and project team regarding status of project;

u. Provide an annual progress report to the CDC COR to summarize all contract related projects at the end of the 12-month period of performance;

v. Provide a final progress report to the CDC COR at the end of the contract completion, i.e., summarizing base years and option years;
